Brookside 40th anniversary cast reunion

I hosted a very special evening at the theatre of Archbishop Blanch School to celebrate 40 years since Brookside first appeared on our television screens.

The event brought together five members of the Corkhill family: John McArdle (Billy), Kate Fitzgerald (Doreen), Justine Kerrigan (Tracy), Paula Francis (Diana) and George Christopher (“Little Jimmy”) as well as surprise guest Michael Starke (Sinbad).

The cast shared memories of their time on the show, both on and off screen. It was a rare treat for fans (including this one, pictured above with the actors) and everyone had a great time. The cast were kind enough to stay around to chat to the audience and have photos taken.

The iconic soap was a great showcase for Liverpool’s creative talent, and it is a shame that there weren’t more events to celebrate its 40th anniversary. I hope we’ll be able to organise more Brookside reunions in future years. Judging by the response to this one, there is definitely an appetite for them.
