Paddy Shennan at the Smithdown Litfest

27TH SEPTEMBER 2022 / NEWS

It was such a pleasure to interview Liverpool Echo feature writer Paddy Shennan as part of this year’s Smithdown Litfest.

Paddy Shennan is a name known to generations of Liverpool Echo readers. A multi-award-winning journalist, he worked for the paper between 1987 and 2020, starting as a news reporter and progressing to the role of chief feature writer. Paddy also had an opinion column, a television review page and co-authored a pub column which led to the Liverpool Echo Pub Guide book.

Paddy kept the audience at Greenbank Primary School entertained with his stories about the big names he has interviewed from the worlds of politics and showbusiness. We covered everything from the great and the good (to the not so great nor good), to why sometimes meeting your heroes can be a let down, and poignant memories of Sir Ken Dodd and Tony Mulhearn.

Paddy’s book The Talk of Liverpool is crammed full of anecdotes and is a great read.
